Not as Bad

without comments

acnetlbefore2As I said last time, I do have some mild scars from my outbreaks as a teenager, and I definitely wish I knew how to treat acne then as well as I know how to treat it today. But I’m lucky because the scars could have been much worse. I’ve seen some firsthand.

Big Mistakes in Acne

without comments

scarpresmoothbeamxTime after time I was told by my mother not to mess with my acne when I was younger. But I also wanted to scratch at them or pop them or do something that I hoped would make them go away faster. Of course, I irritated them more, spread the bacteria around my skin more, and ended up with some minor acne scars that – thankfully – are easy to hide with cosmetics.

Serious Acne

clear-skinIn some cases, acne can become so severe that you might need to see a dermatologist to clear it up. But once that’s done, you still need to find a good skin routine and stick to it if you want to prevent future outbreaks. That’s the key to having beautiful skin: taking care of it.

Finding a Treatment

mineral-care-skin-careOne thing I’ve learned since fighting acne as a child is the importance of a good product. I typically use a product called acne complex that does a good job of keeping my face clear and pimple-free. That’s the real secret: finding a product that works on your skin and using it regularly. It’s not brain surgery.

What I Did Wrong Back Then

skincare1I think the other reason my skin was so prone to acne breakouts was that I didn’t realize that drying it out would be a problem. I was sometimes washing my face 3 or 4 times a day with hot water and soap. That couldn’t have been a good combination, even for oily skin. It probably made my skin more sensitive and more prone to acne.

Getting to the Bottom of Zits

wrinkle-free-skinWhen I was younger and started having acne problems, I did blame myself a lot. I thought there had to be something wrong with the way I took care of my skin. But now I realize it’s not that unusual for both sexes to get tons of acne breakouts around adolescence.

The Right Product

removing-make-upAnother important part of keeping your skin acne free, at least in my experience, is having a good product to use. Acne solutions can take good care of your skin and can eliminate blemishes whenever they do pop up. Having good products is always a good idea but sometimes it takes trial and error to find the right one.

Other Tips for Acne

9be74673122951338532642One of the most important things about preventing acne is you have to do whatever it takes to keep your pores from clogging. When that happens, so do pimples. I used to sleep in my make-up until I realized that it was getting into my pores and making me breakout more. Now I always clean off the makeup as part of my nightly skin care routine.

What Works Against Acne?

acnelargerDuring all the research I did on fighting acne, I found that one of the most useful things you can do is get into a healthy skin care routine. Washing your face with a mild cleaner twice a day is a start. Just remember not to use products that will dry out your skin and not to hot water – always opt for warm. Hot water will dry your skin, too.

Finding a Good Solution

Lady's PortraitBefore you can really find the right acne solution, you need to understand what causes acne in the first place. As long as people keep assuming it’s caused by greasy food or chocolate, they won’t be able to find a good product or share skin care strategies that are really going to work.
